OAB after surgery

I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 months ago. I have to wear a pad full time and went to doctor who performed surgery since I didn't think this was normal. I thought I ight have to get the "sling." She told me, based on answers to her question, I have Overactive Bladder. I have the food list of "triggers" and will follow the diet until I see her next in November. This may sound strange, but since seeing her yesterday I'm wondering should I just accept it and quit worrying about it. If I'm wearing the pad, it is no big deal since my clothes or furniture are not affected. A neighbor had the same surgery I did and had the sling and I guess I was thinking that is what my doctor would suggest. She did not and said it's OAB.
